About me

I am Camila Franco-Rodriguez, born in Bogota Colombia. Currently residing in Philadelphia, PA.

I have been studying linguistics since 2013, when I started my undergraduate studies at Universidad Nacional de Colombia at the Linguistics department. At this same college and department I joined the 2017 Master in Linguistics cohort, and specialized on Bilingualism and Languages in Contact. Just as I was finishing my M.A in 2019 I was accepted at Temple University in Hispanic Linguistics PhD at the Spanish and Portuguese Department.

While living in Colombia I took on a variety of roles due to the adaptable nature of linguistics. I worked with Data Analysis and Research Advising with companies that worked with language this included: Marketing, Public Relationships, Sentiment Analysis and Data.

On the other hand, I focused on EFL, working with a wide range of ages and goals. I worked in different companies as a language teacher, helping younger students to develop language competencies and older students to achieve their academic and professional goals.

Moving to the United States was a marvelous opportunity to work with immigrant communities and bilingual speakers. While residing in the U.S I have focused on making my research interdisciplinary and improving my SLA methods.

At the time I am learning Japanese, currently reaching 1.5 years of learning!
